The Story of 295
Adam Ashley-Cooper, Matt Giteau and Drew Mitchell have played 295 games collectively in the Wallaby backline. Their combination both on and off the field, the mateship they share and their commitment to excellence see them combine with acclaimed SA winemaker Ben Riggs to launch the ultimate expression of Australian Shiraz – Backline 295 McLaren Vale Shiraz.
Playing for the Wallabies was a very special time for the boys and they are proud to have represented their country.
"I loved playing for the Wallabies. Everytime I put the jersey on I felt a huge sense of pride. For me, there's no greater feeling than representing your country, and the more games I played for Australia the more Australian I felt." - Adam Ashley Cooper, #121 Tests
"It mean't everything to me to play for the Wallabies but there was also a realisation that it wasn't just about me. Sure I got to wear the jersey but I was doing so on behalf of everyone who helped me get there. Every single person who had a hand in supporting me, teaching me and pushing me to get to that point along the way!" - Drew Mitchell, #71 Tests
“When I first played for the Wallabies, I think the enormity of it was lost on me, but as I grew older I quickly realised how special & privileged I was to be playing for the Wallabies because I’m not just representing myself but those who helped me get there.” – Matt Giteau, #103 Tests
And now they proudly bring to you their icon wine. This powerful wine is a blend of three iconic McLaren Vale Shiraz vineyards, Gateway, Martins and Piebald Gully Vineyard and is full of flavour and character.
“A well-structured full-bodied wine with lush berry, chocolate and meaty aromas and flavours combine with a long finish. This is a wine with outstanding character, a wine to be enjoyed now or in the next 15 years. " - Ben Riggs
With only 1058 bottles produced, the same number of points scored by the trio in tests for the Wallabies, this is an extremely limited release.
The bottle is finished with a quality embossed bronze label and each bottle is wax sealed by hand, capturing the wine's character for many years to come.
